Jazz Chorus

What is the Jazz Chorus

After many years as a Choir Leader and organising Pop Up Choirs, Steph created a new interactive singing night mainly to Jazz. Steph is keen to change people’s perception of Jazz and make it more enjoyable and accessible for everyone. The aim of the Jazz Chorus is to provide a fun night out, plus insights into how the musicians work together as well learning about groove, harmony and improvisation through singing.

What happens on the night?

The venue is set out Jazz Club style and there is a house band that includes bass, drums, keys & a guest saxophone player or other instrument. During the evening we will be working together on 2 main compositions in part harmony which we will provide tracks for so you can listen at home before you come, plus a technical focus for each session that we plan to de-mystify! and other jazz harmony short songs and group compositions.

Who is this Jazz Choir for?

These sessions would suit community choir singers through to experienced vocalists who are new to Jazz. No need for any previous experience of Jazz and we'll be doing everything by ear so no need to read music either plus the bar will be open all evening. Questions will be encouraged.

You started the workshops already! Can I still join them? I’m not going to miss anything?

Of course you can join and please, don’t worry! Every session is standalone and has its own resources.

Can I bring friends and family to watch?

The more the merrier, plus it will help our lovely host to sell more beers or just soft drinks.

What’s the location of the Jazz Choir and does it have parking?

Tap Social Movement, Curtis Estate Avenue

Is the workshop inclusive to all, including ASD, impairment or mobility difficulties?

Yes. Tap Movement Social is accessible to all, including wheelchair users. Please feel free to contact Tamar (07910076085) with your needs so that we can provide additional information and assistance if required.  We will do our utmost to make sure this event is as accessible as possible for any disability you may have.

When am I going to receive the tracks we will be learning in the workshop?

We aim to send the tracks 7 days before the session to all ticket buyers. If, by any chance we have a delay or we did not email you, please feel free to contact us.

What are the types of tickets you offer?

  1. General Admission: £30

  2. Concession Ticket: £20 Available for recipients of Universal Credit and disabled participants claiming PIP.
